Atlanta Mission
Our Marketing Director Melissa filled in the host seat for Justin this week, because he is home with his family after welcoming a new baby girl last Thursday! Congratulations to Justin, Amaris, and their whole family!
We had a very special guest joining us this week: Richard Hopkins, Director of Partnerships & Volunteer Services at Atlanta Mission. JLG has formed an incredible partnership with Atlanta Mission over the past year and a half, and we were so excited to have Richard here to share more about the amazing work they are doing in our city. He gave a detailed look at their model, challenges, and needs. Here are a few of the highlights:
Atlanta Mission is more than just a shelter—it’s a transformational model. People who choose help at Atlanta Mission receive an extensive support network and customized services to help them heal and overcome the cause of their homelessness.
Homelessness is often about relational poverty. Think about what might happen to you if you lost your job or your house burned down. Most of us have friends or family we could rely on if things got hard—but what if you didn’t have those relationships? Many people don’t have anyone to turn to, and turning to the streets becomes the only option.
Homelessness is all around us. So many parts of Atlanta are growing and prospering, and it’s easy to forget that there are people struggling right around the corner. There likely are opportunities to get involved and help people who desperately need you in your own neighborhood.
How can you help?
