Proposed townhomes would bring affordability to Atlanta’s Eastside
Have you been looking to live on the Eastside but it’s been out of your budget? You may soon be in luck! An Atlanta homebuilder is planning to turn an empty church into 33 townhomes at the intersection Hardee Street and Wesley Avenue in Edgewood. The development would replace a vacant church, gravel parking lot, and a single-family dwelling. Parkwood Living LLC anticipates listing the townhomes at $265,000 per unit. Single-family craftsman bungalows account for the majority of for-sale housing in the neighborhood, which is bordered by DeKalb Avenue to the north and Moreland Avenue to the west. The proposed development is roughly a half-mile from the Edgewood-Candler Park MARTA station and about a mile from the Edgewood Retail District shopping center. In contrast to the numerous luxury residential developments rising around Atlanta, Parkwood intends to offer more affordable units to attract single professionals or higher-education students.
